It was hard to leave that soil nurtured organically for six years and a pile of ready compost. Harder than leaving the view!

I like to think of what remains as my contribution to Mother Nature’s struggle up there.

So, back to Gnome’s new garden space… If 27 stairs and a 12% grade driveway straight up the side of the Malahat couldn’t stop the building of multiple raised beds in a garden on a rocky ledge on the side of a mountain – clay certainly won’t. Not on flat land near Portage Inlet in Saanich, BC.

I suppose like the last garden, this new one will find its name in time.
