The Greater Victoria Compost Education Centre will be hosting our annual Organic Plant Sale on May 15th 2010 from 10am-1pm, with almost a dozen local organic vendors selling their seedlings. Row upon row of basil, tomato, broccoli, kale, and zucchini plants along with other vegetable, medicinal, herbal, and ornamental plants inspire the most conventional gardener. Once again there will be composting supplies available at a discounted price, live music, and coffee and treats available, adding to the mini-festival atmosphere. There will also be free courses available on growing tomatoes and growing salad greens taught by local gardening and culinary experts, Terralicious. This one day market provides residents the opportunity to buy organic plants from a variety of local growers all in one convenient location!

Do you live in the Victoria? Are you a dog owner was appreciates off-leash areas to exercise both dog and master in regional parks?
Please let your voice be heard by completing the CRD online survey …
CRD Regional Parks is preparing for a new strategic plan for regional parks in greater Victoria. The last time they developed a regional plan it proposed leash laws for dogs in several parks – including Thetis Lake. As a major user group of parks in this region, we dog owners must make an effort to have our voices heard in this planning process.
The CRD is holding community meetings this month and dog owners should be attending and letting planning staff know how important these parks are to us for recreation with our dogs.
Take a look at the CRD parks website to find out more.
Please don’t ignore this, and pass along to other dog owners you know. The last time the CRD developed a strategic plan the work dog was only mentioned in the connection with the proposed leash laws they wanted to impose in several parks.
